Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Venice walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Newsome Wolves 2-0. The win was nothing new for the Indians as they're now sitting on nine straight.

The result came thanks to Carter Cox's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, August Backman was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Graham Houston was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Venice hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newsome struck out ten times.

Venice pushed their record up to 27-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Newsome, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-8.

Venice will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolves: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
