Baseball Game Preview: Flushing Red Devils vs. Edison Vo-Tech Inventors

The Flushing Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Edison Vo-Tech Inventors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Flushing will be strutting in after a win while Edison Vo-Tech will be coming in after a defeat.

Flushing's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Long Island City by a score of 5-0. The victory continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

Jeffrey Mentle Monico was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Mentle Monico was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gary De Jesus, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Alex Encarnacion also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Flushing always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Edison Vo-Tech lost 10-3 to Bryant on April 8th.
