Baseball Recap: Dixie Wins Going Away Against Skyridge

After only two runs in their last match, Dixie made sure to put some runs up on the board against Skyridge on Friday. Everything went the Dixie Flyers' way against the Skyridge Falcons as the Dixie Flyers made off with a 13-3 victory. With that win, the Flyers brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Jake Andreas made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Dixie let Carson Hunt and Weston Gilmore run wild. Hunt went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Gilmore went 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Gilmore hit this season. Another player making a difference was Marcus Benson, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Dixie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyridge only posted a batting average of .174.

Dixie's record now sits at 5-2. As for Skyridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixie will take on Park City in a tournament on Saturday. Dixie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Skyridge, they will be taking part in a tournament against East at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
