Volleyball Recap: Veterans Extends Winning Streak to Three

Veterans had won two straight games and Grace Lamontagne did her part to make it three on Thursday. The Warhawks came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Northside Patriots for which the team can thank Lamontagne, who had 14 assists and 11 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Veterans had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 27-25, 15-13.

Northside's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mckenzie Durbin, who had 20 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Durbin is now averaging an impressive 10.9 digs per game. Another player making a difference was Lacie Watts, who had 23 assists and two blocks.

Veterans' victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Northside, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Coming up, Veterans will head out to take on Academy for Classical Education at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Northside, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lakeside at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
