Baseball Game Preview: Hughson Huskies vs. Ripon Indians

The Hughson Huskies will square off against the Ripon Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hughson will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Hughson not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 20th. They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over Ripon. With that victory, the Huskies brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Max Mankins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Mankins was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Andrew Fisher was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Carlos Guizar, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Hughson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ripon only posted a batting average of .231.

Hughson pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ripon, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hughson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ripon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
