Softball Game Preview: Linfield Christian Lions vs. Ontario Christian Knights

For the second straight game, Linfield Christian will face off against Ontario Christian. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Linfield Christian will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Linfield Christian proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Ontario Christian 6-5.

Celeste Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Sophia Rezkalah was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Charli Calas, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Linfield Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Linfield Christian's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Ontario Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Linfield Christian hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Ontario Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 home runs.
