Baseball Recap: Point Loma Comes Up Short

Point Loma was the 2-1 winner over University City when they last played one another back in May of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Pointers fell 3-0 to the Centurions on Tuesday. The Pointers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Point Loma got a good showing from Luis Lara, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lara has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Point Loma's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6-1. As for University City, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 11-7 record.

Coming up, Point Loma is taking a road trip to square off against St. Augustine at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for University City, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Clairemont at 4:00 p.m. The Chieftains will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Centurions surely won't give up without a fight.
