Baseball Recap: Community Comes Up Short

Community had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-8-1 to make it four. They fell just short of the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles by a score of 4-3. If the Vikings/Viqueens were looking for revenge after losing 14-0 to the Golden Eagles when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Isaiah Beech made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Josh Powers was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Shelbyville Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

On Shelbyville Central's side, their win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brody Thomas, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That hit marked the first that Thomas has got this season.

Community didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 defeat against Cookeville on the 20th. As for Shelbyville Central, they have also already played their next matchup, a 9-6 victory against Forrest on the 19th.
