Baseball Recap: Sunray Takes Down Floydada in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Sunray rose to the challenge on Thursday. They blew past the Floydada Whirlwinds 13-1. Considering the Bobcats have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Luke Grajeda, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Azriel Vargas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Sunray always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Floydada only posted an OBP of .222.

The victory was the seventh in a row for Sunray, bringing their record up to 15-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Floydada, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

As of now, neither Sunray nor the Whirlwinds have any future games scheduled.
