Basketball Recap: Gunnison Valley Bulldogs vs. North Summit Braves
Gunnison Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the North Summit Braves 71-23. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-11.
Gunnison Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Autumn Anderson, who posted five points and six boards.
North Summit was led to victory by Hayzlyn Murdock and Ellie Stephens. Murdock went 13-for-18 on her way to 30 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals, while Stephens dropped a double-double with 11 points and 19 boards. The game was Murdock's sixth in a row with at least 17 points.
Gunnison Valley's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for North Summit, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 22-1.
Gunnison Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-16 win against Salt Lake Academy on the 11th. As for North Summit, they will be playing at home against Water Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. The timing is sure in North Summit's favor as the squad sits on 12 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Water Canyon has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
