Softball Game Preview: Mount Airy Granite Bears vs. Elkin Buckin' Elks

Mount Airy is 1-9 against Elkin since March of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Granite Bears will welcome the Buckin' Elks at 6:00 p.m. Mount Airy has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Mount Airy's offense. They lost 15-0 to Starmount on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Elkin can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Alleghany 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Buckin' Elks have posted since February 28th.

Lauren Norman was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Byrd, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Elkin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mount Airy's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Elkin, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
