Softball Game Preview: Eustace Bulldogs vs. Connally Cadets

The Eustace Bulldogs will take on the Connally Cadets in a tournament on Friday. Eustace will be strutting in after a win while Connally will be coming in after a loss.

Eustace is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since February 14, 2025 on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Ferris 6-5.

Meanwhile, Connally was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 24th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 7-4 to Teague.

Ary Gooden was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Gooden wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Ard, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Melanie Cox also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Eustace's win bumped their record up to 4-2-1. As for Connally, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
