The Eagles have beaten the Blue Dragons the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Blue Dragons has come to flipping the script.
Payten Stebbins made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Stebbins was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Valintakonis, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Hailey Anderson was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Enfield's record is now 2-0. As for Middletown, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Enfield will venture away from home to square off against Ellington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Middletown, they will head out to take on E.O. Smith/Tolland at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
