Basketball Preview: Plainview Indians vs. Madill Wildcats

After three games on the road, Plainview is heading back home. They will take on the Madill Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Plainview pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 80-57 loss at the hands of Byng. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Plainview in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Madill unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Riverside Indian by a score of 48-45. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Madill came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Braves are ranked 60th).

Defeat or not, Madill got some senior leadership from Ethan Wilkerson and Brylan James. Wilkerson scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks, while James. scored 16 points along with five assists. That was a full 44.4% of Madill's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jd Runyan was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.

Plainview dropped their record down to 9-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Madill, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-2.

Plainview ended up a good deal behind the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, losing 49-30. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wilkerson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. Now that Plainview knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
