Softball Recap: Pekin Starts off Right with Win over Normal Community

Pekin gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Normal Community Ironmen by a score of 6-3. The win continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Ironmen: they've now won six in a row.

Zoe Lindahl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Abbie Walker was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Baughman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Pekin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Normal Community only posted a batting average of .259.

Normal Community is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Pekin will welcome Midwest Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Normal Community, they will face off against Limestone at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
