Recap: Pueblo West Cyclones vs. Evergreen Cougars
The third road contest was the charm for the Pueblo West Cyclones, as they earned their first road win of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 41-26 victory over Evergreen on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Pueblo West, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Pueblo West's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teren Sanchez, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Trynity Martin was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addison McEvers, who scored ten points along with three steals. McEvers hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games.
Pueblo West's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Evergreen, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pueblo West will square off against Colorado Springs Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Colorado Springs Christian is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Evergreen will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Standley Lake at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Standley Lake's defense has only allowed 26.1 points per game this season, so Evergreen's offense will have their work cut out for Evergreen.
