Baseball Recap: Heritage Gets the Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Heritage ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Orange Panthers. For the Huskies, this counts as revenge for the 10-1 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Blake Tillery tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Leighton Cash was a standout: he went 2-for-6 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Small, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.

The win got Heritage back to even at 8-8. As for Orange, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage will host Wake Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Orange, they will challenge Chatham Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
