Softball Game Preview: Hereford Whitefaces vs. West Plains Wolves

Hereford is 0-3 against West Plains since March of 2024 but things could change on Friday. The Whitefaces are taking a road trip to square off against the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. Hereford has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hereford is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Canyon, falling 13-4.

Hereford saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malarie Enriquez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Alizae Casarez was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Pampa typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday West Plains proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Harvesters. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.

Jaylen Kaps spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emory Chancler was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Diaz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

West Plains' record is now 9-12-1. As for Hereford, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15.

Hereford suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to West Plains in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Whitefaces avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
