Baseball Game Preview: Chaparral Firebirds vs. Horizon Huskies

For the second straight game, Chaparral will face off against Horizon. The Firebirds will welcome the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chaparral is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Chaparral is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Horizon just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 4-3.

For Horizon's part, they got a great performance from Rio Ryu as he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave Ryu a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Trahan, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Quinn Robbins was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

The win (which was Horizon's fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.
