Volleyball Recap: Normandy Invaders vs. Westlake Demons
Normandy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Westlake Demons. The Invaders were not able to make up for their loss to the Demons from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
While Normandy ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 18-25, 25-20, 25-21.
Despite the defeat, Normandy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maddie Kirk had seven digs and two aces.
Westlake found their leader in sophomore Olive VanDetta, who had 19 digs and two aces. Those 19 digs set a new season-high mark for VanDetta.
Normandy's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Westlake, their record now sits at 2-3.
Normandy has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Bay on the 28th. As for Westlake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Valley Forge on the 28th.
