Recap: Lee Generals vs. Rye Cove Eagles
The Lee Generals lost against the Rye Cove Eagles back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Lee suffered a tough 70-48 loss at the hands of Rye Cove. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lee in their matchups with Rye Cove: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Lee saw an underclassman step up: Kinley Huff scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 60.4% of Lee's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Bishop, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Lee has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Rye Cove, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.
Lee and Abingdon will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Abingdon is coming into the matchup with six straight wins on the road, meaning Lee will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Rye Cove, they will take on Thomas Walker at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
