Volleyball Recap: Goreville Comes Up Short

Goreville was the 2-1 winner over Vienna when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Blackcats fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Blackcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Tilly Stewart paced Goreville's offense, picking up 14 kills. Stewart got some help from Kaydence Albright and her 17 assists. Albright was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Goreville's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Vienna, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Goreville has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Hamilton County on the 4th. As for Vienna, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Cobden on the 6th.
