Basketball Game Preview: Natchez Bulldogs vs. South Jones Braves

The Natchez Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the South Jones Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Natchez will be strutting in after a victory while South Jones will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, Natchez didn't have too much trouble with Brookhaven as they won 49-30. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Panthers are ranked 132nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

RONIYA ELLIS was her usual excellent self, going 8 of 19 en route to 27 points. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was CALEAH KENNEDY, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 11 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, South Jones played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by North Pike and fell 71-41. The defeat continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost three in a row.

South Jones' loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Natchez, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

Natchez strolled past South Jones when the teams last played two weeks ago by a score of 55-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Natchez since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
