Softball Game Preview: Oregon Hawks vs. North Boone Vikings

Oregon is 1-9 against North Boone since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 5:30 p.m. The last four games Oregon has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Oregon had taken Dixon down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Hawks fell just short of the Dukes & Duchesses by a score of 5-4.

Isabelle Berg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Olivia Ortega made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Shaffer, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of 13 wins, North Boone's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Stillman Valley, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since March 22nd.

North Boone's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 18-4. As for Oregon, their loss dropped their record down to 18-8.
