Basketball Recap: Hattiesburg Homeschool Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Hattiesburg HomeSchool had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the New Life Christian Academy Eagles 84-50. The Forerunners haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Hattiesburg HomeSchool's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keller Russell, who shot 48% from the field on his way to 25 points and three steals. The contest was Russell's fifth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kaydn Higdon, who went 6-for-8 en route to 13 points and four steals.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hattiesburg HomeSchool will square off against Lamar Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for New Life Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sylva Bay Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 15, 2026.
