Basketball Game Preview: Pontiac Phoenix vs. Cranbrook Kingswood Cranes

The Pontiac Phoenix will face off against the Cranbrook Kingswood Cranes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pontiac came up short against University on Tuesday, falling 53-29. The Phoenix have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Pontiac saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Germani Hall posted 12 points. That was a full 41.4% of Pontiac's points, marking the tenth time in a row Hall has had more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Cranbrook Kingswood played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Marian and fell 75-33. The Cranes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-21.

Pontiac will have to contain Madeline Day as she made an impact in Cranbrook Kingswood's last game. She scored 19 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Cranbrook Kingswood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Pontiac's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Cranbrook Kingswood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
