Preview: Stewart County Rebels vs. Camden Central Lions

Stewart County is 2-7 against Camden Central since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Stewart County Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Camden Central Lions at 5:00 p.m. Stewart County is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

On Monday, it was close, but Stewart County sidestepped Clarksville Academy for an 8-7 win. The victory was just what Stewart County needed coming off of an 8-2 loss in their prior match.

Addison Fitzhugh was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Fitzhugh was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Makayleigh Byrd was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Cara Bucciarelli was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Camden Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 7-4 to Manteno.

Stewart County's win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-6. As for Camden Central, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Stewart County couldn't quite finish off Camden Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 and fell 9-7. Can Stewart County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
