Basketball Recap: Baboquivari Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Baboquivari entered their match against Buena on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Baboquivari Warriors fell 47-35 to the Buena Colts. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 61-45 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2021.

Baboquivari's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was La'Mel Martinez, who went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points and five rebounds. Martinez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kara Baptisto, who posted 13 points.

Baboquivari's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Buena, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Baboquivari didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-41 win against Mountain View on the 28th. As for Buena, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cholla at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
