Softball Recap: Schoolcraft Takes a Loss

Schoolcraft had lost five straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-15 to make it six. They lost 22-3 to the Mendon Hornets. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Hornets when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Mendon, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 14-1. Considering they have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Mendon's part, Rowan Allen was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Allen has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Brielle Bailey was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gracie Schultz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

While Schoolcraft had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
