Baseball Recap: Oilton Victorious

While Oilton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Olive Wildcats on Saturday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Kolby Browning and Rylan McCool made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Browning struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, McCool struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season. At bat, Browning went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double, while McCool went 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Israel Casey was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Oilton's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Olive, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Oilton will face off against Depew at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Olive, they will head out to face off against Davenport at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
