Basketball Recap: Wheelersburg Takes a Loss

Wheelersburg lost against South Webster back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wheelersburg Pirates took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Webster Jeeps. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Jeeps are ranked 48th).

Eli Roberts continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Webster, going 8 of 11 on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds. The contest was Roberts' third in a row with at least ten points. Dylan Shupert was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Wheelersburg now has a losing record at 3-4. As for South Webster, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0.

Wheelersburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 85-81 win against Jackson on the 14th. South Webster has also already played their next game, a 74-72 victory against North Adams on the 14th.
