Baseball Game Preview: Temple City Rams vs. Monrovia Wildcats

The Temple City Rams will head out to challenge the Monrovia Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Temple City has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Monrovia will arrive with seven straight wins.

Temple City is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 18th on Thursday. They came up short against San Marino, falling 11-2.

Meanwhile, Monrovia got the win against Marshall on Saturday by a conclusive 12-5. Considering the Wildcats have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

David Lopez looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Monrovia got a big performance out of Tristan Oandasan, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Oandasan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy Grise, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Monrovia pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Temple City, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9-1.

Temple City couldn't quite get it done against Monrovia in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 5-0. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
