The Nease Panthers will face off against the Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Nease's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Atlantic Coast. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Stingrays: they've now won three in a row.
The result came thanks to Sydney Davis's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Miranda Harmon, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Alanna Doherty, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Nease kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Fleming Island entered their tilt with Clay on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 14-1 victory. Considering the Golden Eagles have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Fleming Island also got a great performance from Mallory Blackwell as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Anisten Kurlander was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Emma Massey was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.
Fleming Island pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Nease, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
Nease couldn't quite finish off Fleming Island in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
