Preview: Butler Bulldogs vs. Laney Wildcats

Butler has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Laney Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Butler had to settle for a 42-39 defeat against the Eagles. Butler has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Butler's defeat came about despite a quality game from Brayla Harris, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 56.4% of Butler's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Karen Nimo was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Meanwhile, Laney was beaten by the Bulldogs 71-31 on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Laney has scored all season.

Butler's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8. As for Laney, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Butler took their victory against the Wildcats in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 60-36. Does Butler have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
