Softball Game Preview: Seneca Fighting Irish vs. Lexington Minutemen

The Seneca Fighting Irish will square off against the Lexington Minutemen at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Seneca will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Seneca is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Watseka with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Fighting Irish have won 24 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lexington let Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin stack seven runs on them in the second inning on Wednesday but luckily Lexington prevailed anyway. The Minutemen came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 12-8.

Seneca's victory bumped their record up to 32-1. As for Lexington, they now have a winning record of 16-15.

Everything went Seneca's way against Lexington when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Seneca made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Irish since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
