Softball Game Preview: Metcalfe County Hornets vs. Washington County Commanders

The Metcalfe County Hornets will face off against the Washington County Commanders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Metcalfe County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Metcalfe County didn't have quite enough to beat Bowling Green and fell 6-4. The Hornets have struggled against the Purples recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Metcalfe County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Groce, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Morgan Avery, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Washington County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against Taylor County, falling 17-2. That's two games in a row now that the Commanders have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Washington County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Metcalfe County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Metcalfe County beat Washington County 36-31 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Commanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
