Softball Recap: Gloucester Takes a Loss

Gloucester came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-3 to the Poquoson Bull Islanders. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Dukes have suffered since June 13, 2025.

The defeat snapped Gloucester's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-7 record. As for Poquoson, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Gloucester and Poquoson should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Dukes will challenge Lafayette at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (143 vs. 335). Meanwhile, Poquoson (ranked 28th) will meet Warhill (ranked 251st) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
