Recap: Highland Huskies vs. Prospect Ridge Academy Miners
There's no place like home for the Highland Huskies, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Saturday. They took down Prospect Ridge Academy 78-59 on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Highland was led to victory by Carson Steinke and Sawyer Morgan. Steinke scored 24 points along with three steals, while Morgan dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Steinke's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jacob Wares was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Despite the loss, Prospect Ridge Academy still got an impressive performance from Liam Schilling, who scored 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tyler Brandt, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Prospect Ridge Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Highland pushed their record up to 4-2 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.8 points per game. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Highland will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sterling at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they will square off against Heritage Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
