Recap: Sublette Larks vs. Elkhart Wildcats
This season hasn't been kind to the Sublette Larks, who are still winless after their eighth game. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 45-21 walloping at the hands of Elkhart on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sublette in their matchups with Elkhart: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Larks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lindsey Dyck, who scored four points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her.
It was another big night for Bella Brillhart, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 12 rebounds, and ten steals for Elkhart. That makes it three consecutive games in which Brillhart has scored at least 25% of Elkhart's points. Isabel Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Sublette bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.4 points per game. As for Elkhart, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sublette will take on Stanton County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elkhart, they will be playing at home against Boise City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
