Basketball Game Preview: Steele Comets vs. Midview Middies

The Steele Comets will challenge the Midview Middies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Steele knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 games -- so hopefully Midview likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Steele narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past North Ridgeville 64-61.

Meanwhile, Midview played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Olmsted Falls and fell 73-46. While losing is never fun, the Middies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 686th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 262nd).

Steele will need focus on slowing down Xavier Young, one of several Midview players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 for 10 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. Brady Newton was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Midview's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Steele, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

Everything came up roses for Steele against Midview in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 68-32 win. In that contest, Steele amassed a halftime lead of 46-15, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
