Citrus Hill (Perris, Calif.) senior kicker Manny Berz set a California state record Friday for most career field goals after booting a 34-yarder in a 52-13 win over Hemet.

The field goal was the 43rd of his career, bettering the mark of 42 by Westlake's Kevin Robledo.

Heading into the game, Berz had made 8 of 12 field goals on the year and all 36 extra-point tries. The 5-foot-9, 185-pounder is also one of the state's top punters. He's averaged 44.5 yards per punt in his career.
