The Southwestern Rebels will face off against the Seymour Owls at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Southwestern 3.1, Seymour 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Seymour will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Southwestern extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday. The Rebels' pitcher stepped up to hand Switzerland County a 5-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Rebels have won by exactly five runs.

The result came thanks to Tryson Warren's shutout, as he gave up just a hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jeter Chatham was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Varble, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seymour). Everything went their way against Henryville on Monday as they made off with a 17-2 win. The Owls have beaten the Hornets the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hornets has come to flipping the script.
Jackson Trueblood was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Trueblood was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Seymour let Mack Longmeier and Tylan Nicholson run wild. Longmeier went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run, while Nicholson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Nicholson has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caydin Bishop, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Seymour was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Henryville only posted a batting average of .190.
Southwestern's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Seymour, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Southwestern has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Seymour struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Southwestern might still be hurting after the 15-2 loss they got from Seymour when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
