Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wahlert). They took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 93-58 win over the Liberty Lightning. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Golden Eagles had established a 30 point advantage.
Despite the loss, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jerimiah Washpun went 10-for-21 on his way to 21 points and seven boards. Washpun is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 48% in the last five games he's played. Maddoc Coapstick was another key player, putting up 12 points.
The victory got Wahlert back to even at 9-9. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 2-20 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.
Wahlert does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty, they will head out to take on Davenport North at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
