Baseball Recap: Alleghany Comes Up Short

Alleghany extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-14 in the process. They lost 13-0 to the East Wilkes Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 two weeks ago.

As for East Wilkes, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

For East Wilkes' part, Praden Hatley made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Hatley has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Seth Lambert was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Ayden Guessford, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Alleghany has already played their next match, a 10-0 defeat against Starmount on the 15th. As for East Wilkes, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-3 loss against West Wilkes on the 15th.
