Recap: Juarez Eagles vs. Perspectives-IIT/Joslin Wolves

The Juarez Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Perspectives-IIT/Joslin, falling 74-30. Juarez lost against Perspectives-IIT/Joslin in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 36-24 score last time.

Despite the loss, Juarez still got an impressive performance from Yasmin Hernandez , who scored 15 points. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Martha Patino , who scored seven points.

It was another big night for Leilani Laws, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and five steals for Perspectives-IIT/Joslin. The game was Laws' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Victoria Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.

Juarez bumped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Perspectives-IIT/Joslin, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Juarez will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against South Shore International at 5:00 p.m. on December 15th. As for Perspectives-IIT/Joslin, they will challenge Kennedy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
