Baseball Game Preview: Hillsboro Spartans vs. Parkrose Broncos

Hillsboro is a perfect 9-0 against Parkrose since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Spartans will square off against the Broncos at 5:00 p.m. Hillsboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Hillsboro turned things around against Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Mustangs.

Hillsboro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Stark, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Stark has become a key player for the Spartans: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-8 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Parkrose was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against Wilsonville, falling 14-2.

Parkrose's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Hillsboro, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 7-8.

Parkrose's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hillsboro has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. It's a different story for Parkrose, though, as they've only averaged .295. Will they be able to contain Hillsboro's hitters?

Everything went Hillsboro's way against Parkrose when the teams last played back in April of 2018, as Hillsboro made off with a 23-1 victory. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Broncos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
