Benson has gone 3-0 against St. Augustine Catholic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Benson Bobcats will welcome the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves at 5:30 p.m. Benson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Benson played in conference for the first time on Thursday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They took their game with ease, bagging a 60-11 victory over Santa Rita. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.
Benson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubrey Moon out in front who posted 11 points and four steals. Jadalyn De La Cruz was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.
Benson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, St. Augustine Catholic entered their tilt with Desert Christian on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They managed a 42-36 victory over the Eagles.
St. Augustine Catholic's win came from a few key players Benson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Megan Callahan, who had 20 points in addition to six assists and five steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lourdes Gamez, who scored eight points along with nine steals and eight boards.
St. Augustine Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Benson, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Benson has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 40.6 boards per game. However, it's not like St. Augustine Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
