Softball Game Preview: Waccamaw Warriors vs. Andrews Yellowjackets

Waccamaw hasn't had much luck against Andrews recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. Waccamaw has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Waccamaw is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Dillon, falling 12-5.

Meanwhile, Andrews waltzed into their game on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Warriors 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Addyson Davis made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Davis was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Victoria Smith was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Sarah Jennings was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Andrews always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Andrews pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Waccamaw, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
