Preview: McNairy Central Bobcats vs. Scotts Hill Lions
The McNairy Central Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Scotts Hill Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (McNairy Central is ranked 278th, while Scotts Hill is ranked 277th).
McNairy Central fell victim to Westview's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Chargers at home and fell 51-0. Having soared to a lofty 47 points in the game before, McNairy Central couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Scotts Hill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 28-21 to Bolivar Central.
Despite the loss, Scotts Hill got a solid performance out of Noah Clayton, who rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 159 yards and a touchdown. Clayton's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Avion Jackson was another key contributor, picking up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.
McNairy Central's loss was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.3 points per game. As for Scotts Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
McNairy Central suffered a grim 34-14 defeat to Scotts Hill when the teams last played back in August of 2016. Can McNairy Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
