Softball Recap: Model Secondary School for the Deaf Comes Up Short

Model Secondary School for the Deaf and Smith Jewish Day School squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Model Secondary School for the Deaf had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 12-11. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost three in a row.

Talia Willey-Saunders stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Mirella Frijmersum-Di Pietro, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Model Secondary School for the Deaf's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Smith Jewish Day School, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

As of now, neither Model Secondary School for the Deaf nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
